I am glad that after extensive research, I chose this tub and can strongly recommend to others. This is an "old school" cast iron tub that is heavy, durable and easy to clean. It is not cheap (I paid $1350+tax) - but offers a great value over time. Some plastic or steel alternatives may look appealing price-wise, but I did not like the hollow sound that they made (as if it was an empty plastic bottle) - you can't fool with physics - cast iron is the best. Because the Highbridge tub is 60-inch wide, it was a great upgrade for my Brooklyn, NY apartment - where the typical bathroom size is only 5 x 7 feet. During the bathroom reno, I was replacing 1950 cast iron tub which had a shallow depth (12 inches), thus soaking was not comfortable. Difficult to remove and replace stopper, 0-ring seals fail almost immediately. I suggest before installing it, purchase a separate drain setup from someone else.Trust me, any plumber will know about this. Also, before installing the tub leave it outside and spray water in it a couple of times and wait 2-3 days to see if any rust starts coming up through the porcelain. There are a number of problems with the factory getting the finish consistent. Do not install it if you see any rust spots, send it back immediately. This product is way overpriced.
